Ben Hill Griffin Stadium

Built in 1930, Gainesville Florida’s Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, affectionately referred to as “The Swamp” by local fans, is home to the championship University of Florida Gators football team.

Over the years the stadium has benefitted from a number of expansion and renovation projects, most recently a 2003 renovation that increased the seating capacity to over 88,000 seats, making it the largest – and the loudest – stadium in the state.

Ben Hill Griffin Stadium Project

Pro Sound’s involvement in this project was accomplished in two separate projects spanning over a two year period. The first project included a Press Box and Tower renovation encompassing a total renovation of the press area, corporate suites, distributed sound system, distributed TV system, national broadcast cable system and video production suite. The distributed sound system included over 400 speakers for the suites and 50 speakers for the exterior of the stadium.

The second project included a total renovation of the north end-zone scoreboard to include a new point-source sound system utilizing Meyer Sound products. Pro Sound designed, engineered and installed this system including six MSL-6 horn-loaded high-Q main loudspeakers, six SB-1 parabolic long-throw sound beams, two CQ-1 wide coverage loudspeakers, two CQ-2 narrow coverage loudspeakers, and six 700-HP ultra high-power subwoofers.
